Route 163—Cabrillo Freeway travels through the most culturally enriching area of San Diego—Balboa Park. To be found along the drive are fifteen museums, the San Diego Zoo, world-renowned rose gardens, diverse restaurants, art centers, and cultural associations. Balboa Park is an experience that will fill more than an entire day. This cultural center is lush, full of palm trees and historic buildings, dotted with botanical gardens, and the heart of entertainment in San Diego.
Route 163—Cabrillo Freeway travels entirely on HWY 163 from the south boundary of Balboa Park to its north boundary in downtown San Diego.
A few highlights amongst all the possibilities along the drive include 15 themed gardens, which transport visitors visually from Japan to Australia, a good assortment of museums and one of the nation's top animal parks, San Diego Zoo.
